RABBIT VALLEY TRAIL SYSTEM
Bordering the Colorado River, Rabbit Valley is a pinyon-juniper desert landscape with rim rock outcrops. Several trails designated for various uses, including ATV and motorcycle riding, wind through unique sandstone formations and overhangs within this portion of McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area. Visitors can also learn about the region’s paleontological resources at the Mygatt-Moore Quarry and along the Trail Through Time, a 1.5-mile interpretive loop featuring 140-million-year-old dinosaur fossils. The Lunch Line Trail is part of the Lunch Loop Trail System.
The Lunch Loops Trail System is in Grand Junction between Monument Road and Little Park Road. This trail system consists primarily of trails rated “more difficult” to “very difficult.” Adjacent to the Colorado National Monument and Bangs Canyon allow the Lunch Loops Trail System to provide spectacular views on challenging terrain. Gunny Loop Trail can be accessed from the Little Park Trailhead. Gunny Loop Trail is nearby the Lunch Loop Trail System and can be incorporated into a series of loops in the area. The Little Park Trailhead overlooks the Grand Valley and provides parking and access for the Gunny Loop, Ribbon Trail and Andy’s Loop. It is popular with hikers, dog walkers and mountain bikers.
